Regenerative Case Study

South Issyk-Kul: Reversing Youth Outmigration

Unlike the heavily commercialized northern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul, the south shore (Bokonbaevo, Tosor, Kadji-Sai) historically faced economic stagnation, causing severe youth migration to major cities or abroad.

Since 2018, Asia Expeditions integrated South Issyk-Kul into every lake circuit itinerary. Rather than booking massive hotels, we partnered with 8 local families to develop solar-powered eco-yurt camps with clean sanitization, guaranteeing seasonal occupancy from May through October.
